Welcome to the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church's Ukraine Missions Page!
In the Spring of 2024, several of our members and some from other churches, made our first mission trip to war-torn Ukraine. Since that time, there have been three other trips, most of which occurred in November and May of each year.
We have a host church in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, that provides us sleeping quarters in the church basement/bomb shelter, transportation, translation assistance and some really great food!.
During our trips there, we visit elderly shut-ins, bringing them food, financial gifts and words of encouragement during this very difficult time. We hear their life stories (all grew up during the brutal communist Soviet era), and we pray with them. They are always so moved by our visits and ever so grateful for the assistance we give them.
Russia always targets the civilian power grid right before winter so power outages are widespread. During our fall trips, we have gifted families with portable power stations so that they can heat their children's meals, keep their food fresh in the refrigerator, and keep a light on.
In addition to that work, we help around the church with projects, and also help repair and cleanup bomb damaged homes in the area. The devastation from the war is everywhere and so many families have been affected.
In the photos you will see people and families that we have come to know and love, the devastation from the bombing of civilian homes and apartments, the shrapnel holes in one widow's home, the families that have received power stations, and photos of our visits with some of the shut-ins.
God has blessed our work there in so many ways and He has blessed us in ways that we never expected!
As a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, I always feel so honored and appreciative of the financial and prayerful support we have received from our church and our church family. I am so very grateful for that.
If you would like to join us on a trip, or know of someone that would like to join us, please let me know!
With love in Christ,
Moe McKnight
